Are my text messages stored on my SIM card or in my phone?

I've had this phone for 5 weeks - it doesn't recognize my bluetooth from my old cell. The range is not nearly as good as my old nokia - '3g and no antenna' I'm told. Do the internal antennas work with '3g'?
